Trusting In The Process

Trusting In The Process

Like many people, I had a deeply entrenched need to be in control, due to desire and fear. I needed to overcome this “control issue” before I could experience the joy of effortlessness with any consistency. The answer was, and still is, complete surrender—I had to simply stop caring whether it would happen or not, while at the same time totally trusting that it would. I had to let the practice happen without “doing” the practice. Most of us have a lifetime habit of being in control; of thinking, we are a “Self” who is responsible for making things happen. […]

Why Do We Always Ask Why – The Fallacy Of Looking For Cause And Effect.

One of the big news stories of the week has been why Bitcoin shot up to $5,000. In this video, I discuss the fallacy of cause and effect and why as traders we need to stop looking for reasons on why things happen and focus instead on cultivating an objective and probabilistic mindset.

Giving when it hurts

It was roughly 3 months ago that I made a big shift in my trading. I haven’t shared this publicly before but I hope this serves you wherever you are on your trading journey. Slow down to speed up

High Speed Decision Making One of the most important competencies that an intraday trader need have is the ability to make high quality decisions in a high speed trading environment. One of the key areas I see new intraday traders struggle with is the speed of the game.  Often taken for granted is the sharp learning curve that must take place to adapt from trading on the daily or weekly charts to trading on a lower timeframe or tick chart. The errors that a high speed environment can throw off will trigger all manner of execution errors and cognitive biases […]

Understand your trading mindset and stop the blame game

What type of trader are you? Have you ever had one of these trading days? I can recall a particularly miserable trading session where the market seemed to be hunting for my stops. I went long just to have my position stopped out at the low tick.  I reversed and went short, and got stopped out moments thereafter.  In frustration I went long again just to get stopped out before the market took off to my original forecasted profit targets with me standing on the sidelines screaming to get filled. At this point I was already past my pre-determined max. […]
