Final Reminder About This Week’s Meeting –

Just a final reminder that we’re just a few days away from this Wednesday’s meetup and I hope you can join us.

This month we will have a group discussion on one of the most influential and popular trading books of all time –  Reminiscences of a Stock Operator.

There are so many timeless lessons and takeaways but in my opinion one of the most important lessons is to learn to admit when you’re wrong and move on.

  • “The only thing to do when a man is wrong is to be right by ceasing to be wrong.”
  • “A loss never bothers me after I take it. I forget it overnight. But being wrong — not taking the loss — that is what does the damage to the pocketbook and to the soul.”
  • “A speculator must concern himself with making money out of the market and not with insisting that the tape must agree with him. Never argue with it or ask it for reasons or explanations. Stockmarket post-mortems don’t pay dividends.”

Even if you haven’t had a chance to read the whole book you won’t want the discussion.

Btw here’s a brief summary in case you want to know some of the main points before the meetup:

There are still a number of spots remaining so RSVP now to guarantee a seat!

NOTE:  If you are new to the Meetup group your 1st Meetup is free so just message me to get on the RSVP list.

After the discussion, we will be heading to Les 3 Brasseurs where there will be plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and drink and to learn and socialize with other traders.

Buckle Up –

This past week buyers finally found a reason to take profits and sellers to get aggressive and short as worries around the Coronavirus spread to the markets.

As I discussed in last week’s video, the recent melt-up left behind some poor market structure and gaps which has left markets vulnerable to a deeper correction.

It’s nearly impossible to predict what will be the catalyst that finally causes a major reversal but anytime you see the markets rewarding the chase you can be assured that each payout cycle sows the seeds for the next payback cycle. Strategies that were once rewarded will be the first to give back profits.

Along with the ongoing Coronavirus newsflow, this coming week presents a plethora of economic news and earnings reports so buckle up.

In this week’s video, I review this past week’s price action on the indices to see what we can expect in the short term.

As well I analyze the price action on all the major US sectors to see what it would take to change the current uptrend.

Watch this week’s Weekly Outlook video to see the setups and levels we’ll be watching as well as the technical outlook for the VXX SPY QQQ IWM DIA EEM TSX TLT GLD BTCUSD ETHUSD EEM and major sectors more for the week of Weekly Market Outlook For – January 27 – 31, 2020.
