What a beautiful fall weekend here and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates with a bit of turkey.
I spent the afternoon getting pelted by Nerf darts by my son and his friends at a Nerf Hero party celebrating his 8th birthday.
Time flies – remember to enjoy the small and big moments.
This past week, market sentiment gyrated wildly as the continued US-China tariff talks continued to drive headline risk.
Add in the fact that many market participants were off for the Yom Kippur holidays and you had the combination of lower volume and potential for pockets of volatility.
Lots of traders were licking their wounds going into the end of the week as the staccato price action chopped up traders however the positive progress from this week’s tariff talks left the bulls in control allowing buyers to test the monthly and quarterly opening levels on the DIA and SPY, with QQQ now closing above those levels.
Bonds, gold, and silver also gave good tells of the potential risk-on environment as TLT sold off the entire week and the shiny metals gave up the earlier gains in the week only to close the week red.

After Reminiscences of A Stock Operator, the Market Wizards series is probably my second most gifted trading book and well worth the read if you haven’t picked them up before.
Market Wizards by Jack Schwager was first published in 1993. The book profiled some of the world’s top traders, all of whom had enviable long-term track records.
So why is it that we seem to have few and fewer Market Wizards that are household names?
The Animal Spirits podcast shares some good reasons for the dearth of star investors.
It just goes to show how hard is it to become the best and stay the best.
